An Enriching Experience
I started off about 5 years ago going from one
doctor to another.
The pain was so bad it seemed like my joints were going to
smother.
I was swollen all over from face to toes, my knees, my legs and
hands.
It was getting to be too much to bear – more than I could
stand
I dropped into the bathtub one day and couldn’t get myself
out.
I cried so hard for help I had no voice left to shout.
I couldn’t bend my fingers to hold a fork or knife.
I was seriously considering how to end my life.
Well, the last doctor I saw believed in her own variety of
cure.
She was trying to help me ... of that I’m pretty sure.
She offered a drug that would halt the immune system,
and possibly my hair would fall out.
I may experience nausea and a metallic taste in my mouth.
She didn’t tell me what it was, couldn’t guarantee it would
help at all.
She wanted to begin immediately; I did my best to stall.
She offered this drug with side effects galore.
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me right outside the
door.
It was a chemotherapy drug that she wanted me to try.
I went home disgusted and had a real good cry.
A while later though Brenda, Jackie and Gunther introduced me to

Something positive in my life – well, it was quite a
switch.
My fingers are feeling better; I can almost hold them tight

My knees are now more flexible; I can walk and walk and
